Party Search: Additional filtering options
At Gaile's request, I'd like to suggest an update to the (amazing!) new party search window.
Right now it's spiffy enough, but simply giving us the ability to filter by "purpose" would make finding parties and people much easier.
The easiest way I can think of, would be to simply have a number of checkboxes for each of the "purpose" types (Mission, Trade, Quest, Hunting etc). This would look very similar to the chat window we all know and love. If you don't want to see all the trade requests, simply uncheck it from the party search selection, if you are only looking for mission parties, deselect everything else. It seems a simple enough addition, and should make our lives that little bit easier in busy areas

Agreed. Already seeing some rather immature parties popping up and it would be nice to be able to filter them out. Also, it seems people are using this to sell things... be nice to filter them out too.

/signed I actually like the selling functionality as well, but it would definitely be best to be able to filter for what you wanted.

Well you know, if you'd pay attention to the fact that it says "Trade" on there...

The ability to filter out the categories you aren't interested in would be much appreciated.

/signed. it was the first thing i did when i opened the screen. i tried to click the title bar to sort the columns and was rewarded with nothing
so yes, sorting would be wonderful, or even better, trade and 'missions and quests' on their own tabs. this would simplify things greatly.

/signed, but wouldn't people use another sorting option to sell things then?
Like "WTS" used to be allowed in all chat, but now it is automatically moved to trade chat.

filter is nice and tabs would be good as said before. If they make a trade tab have it select "Sale" and "Buy" instead of "trade"

/sign also. When i first heard of the new party menu i was excited to try it out.. only to see it filled with TRADES. I thought it was suppose to be to help you organize a party. I suggest if you are going to make another way for people to spam trades then make a seperate menu for it. Making parties is for making parties not for trading.
Adding a filter to this would only Bandaid the problem. Why not just make a seperate menu for trading and keep things a little better organized then making trades and parties into the same area.

Already, the major trade centres are saturated with WTS/WTB "Parties". The lazy traders are already using "mission" as their purpose.
As TheGuildWarsPenguin's suggests, even if we get a means to filter parties, I suspect traders will use other "purpose" selections to get their wares to a wider audience.
In general, I suspect this will only be an issue in the large trading centres, I doubt it will affect most missions and outposts. However, it is somewhat annoying that the large bustling hearts of each continent will be a mess of trades, instead of a busy central point where players can quickly team up with fellow quest goers, missionaries and huntsmen. I think to get around this problem, you need to give traders a reason to use their trade channel, instead of the "mission", "quest" or "hunting" settings.
One simple example, would be to grant traders additional length to their descriptions. Currently the description field is limited to 31 characters (roughly a quarter of the length of the 120 we get in the chat window). How about you give traders 250 characters worth of space in their descriptions, whilst keeping quests and missions to 31. This way, traders would have a use for their selection (You could fit advertisments for at least 5-10 items in 250 characters) whilst keeping the filtered party types cleaner.

I was going to suggest this very thing.
Sort by trade or mission or whatever... Even if its just a column header sort toggle. Once that is done you have a fantastic substitute for auction house without the Blizzard lawsuits...
Also anyone hear yet if the festive hat guy will remain after holiday? If so I can get rid of some hats in storage...

My friend pointed out to me a "WTS your mother" in the party window and that was pretty stupid along with all the other non-sense things that people are using it for. A filter would be nice so I don't have to read these idiotic things.
